The 62056 Protocol Kit is a library that implements IEC 62056-21 (EN 62056-21, formerly IEC 61107) protocol. This protocol is designed for electricity metering (data exchange for meter reading, tariff and load control). Note that this protocol is part of larger protocol family, and is also known under different names, so if you are unsure whether this product is for your protocol, please contact us for clarification. Names like DLMS and FLAG are all related to IEC62056 (EN62056), but are not the same.

This pre-product can be used to develop OPC-related products such as OPC servers or OPC clients, but also in applications that are not related to OPC and simply make use of the protocol for some other purposes.

With 62056 Protocol Kit, your software will automatically support following features:

• Act as master or slave
• Connect directly through serial connection (RS232 or RS485), or using Ethernet (TCP/IP convertor such as Lantronix)
• Any standardized baud rate
• Automatic error checking and recovery 
• All standardized message formats
• Protocol Mode A; other modes may be added on demand
• Packet assembly and disassembly
• Logon and logoff sequence handling
• Diagnostics and troubleshooting
• Optionally, full source code may be provided with the software
