XML Editing Kit

XML Editing Kit is a library that allows rapid development of applications that view and modify configuration data expressed in XML. It is common, for example, to stored OPC server configuration in XML files. The XML Editing Kit is not, however, tied to OPC technology; it can be used to write applications that work with any XML.

 
Key Features

With XML Editing Kit, your application will automatically support following features:

  • Tree view, grid view, properties view, and detailed view of the data
  • Customizable look and feel
  • Main functionality generated from schema (XSD) for your data
  • Data items can be in XML element text or in XML attributes
  • Automatic verification against the schema
  • Additional validity checks not covered by the schema (e.g. data uniqueness test)
  • Cut, Copy and Paste inside the schema
  • Data moving, and drag-and-drop operatiosn with the data
  • Node multiplication operation
  • Rich grid features (filtering, sorting, grouping, Column Chooser, etc.)
  • Various formatting and presentations options in the grid (numerical formats, alignment, etc.)
  • Imports and exports (e.g. CSV)
  • Toolbars, contextual menus
  • Ability to use pre-defined enumerations (data presented to user differently than their storage)
  • Ability to use look-up lists where the contents come from different part of the XML
  • Ability to use (view and select) references to other parts of the XML
  • XML data-binding mechanism for detailed (form) view
  • Standard file operations (New, Open, Save, Save as...)
  • When used with OPC, ability to us for live data monitoring
  • Full source code may be included with delivery.
 
Platforms and Technologies

There are two editions of XML Editing Kit available:

  • Microsoft Visual C++ with MFC. For legacy applications only.
  • Microsoft.NET (C#), based on WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) and XAML.
